Stanley Johnson, retired Methodist minister and regular contributor to the Talking Newspaper, entertained the diners with tales of his days working in Liverpool, Stoke and Blackburn.
The guest of honour was David Rutley MP who has supported our small independent charity since his first days in Macclesfield.

He congratulated all the volunteers on their anniversary and said how much he admired their professionalism, dedication and enthusiasm.
On 4th April 1974 the first edition of the Macclesfield Talking Newspaper for the Blind was produced.  It was the first talking newspaper in the North West. Forty years later, to the day, 55 Talking Newspaper volunteers gathered at The Bridge Hotel in Prestbury to celebrate this milestone.
